Trek Wild, a Volunteer led hiking and backpacking program in the GSCCC central/south area, is offering a day hike to Rattlesnake Canyon in Santa Barbara. This hike will include 1500′ of elevation gain (and loss) over 5.5 miles round trip.
Prerequisite: participants must have completed Trek Wild’s Wilderness Hiking Course (Look for upcoming course on Nov 16 if you are interested).
Meeting location: Rattlesnake Trailhead
Packing list: 10 essentials, appropriate layers, snack, lunch, and extra (emergency) food, daypack, 2 L of water. An email will be sent out closer to the hike with a weather forecast and layering suggestions.
Badge work: This hike will count toward the Cadette Trail Adventure Badge. For those interested in the badge, a planning meeting will be held over zoom a few days before the hike (TBD).

Forms: Bring the Trip Specific Permission form and two copies of your Health History form – one is folded and placed in your first aid kit, the other is handed to the trip leader.
This hike will run rain or shine, as long as there aren’t safety concerns.
Through activities—like observing local ecosystems, reducing waste, practicing conservation habits, and creating earth-friendly mini-projects—girls will see how even small actions can make a big difference.

Take environmental leadership to the next level! In this action-focused stewardship program, girls will dive deep into today’s most pressing environmental issues and explore practical, high-impact ways to protect our planet.
Through activities—such as analyzing local environmental data, exploring sustainability practices, designing green solutions, and leading mini-service initiatives—girls will build real-world skills in conservation, advocacy, and environmental innovation. Girls will investigate how human choices shape ecosystems, discover powerful youth-led movements, and learn how their voices can inspire meaningful change.
