K-12 Coastal Art & Poetry Contest (All,T)

Deadline to submit entries: 5pm on January 29
Celebrate our wonderful coastal areas with the California Coastal Commission!

Ready to participate? Here’s what to do:

  1. Read the Contest Guidelines
  2. Create your art or poetry
  3. Learn How to Enter the contest
  4. Submit your work online by January 29, 2026 at 5:00pm, or submit by mail (see #6 in contest guidelines below)

Other things you can do:

Winners and honorable mentions will be contacted directly and announced to the public (on this website and via email) by early April.

Wilderness Day Hike – Santa Barbara (JCSAV)

Wilderness Day Hike to Gaviota Peak

Trek Wild, a Volunteer led hiking and backpacking program in the GSCCC central/south area, is offering a day hike to Gaviota Peak north/west of Santa Barbara. This hike will include 2200′ of elevation gain (and loss) around 6.5 miles round trip.

Prerequisite: participants must have completed Trek Wild’s Wilderness Hiking Course

Meeting location: Gaviota Peak Trailhead ($2 cash to park in the lot)

Packing list: 10 essentials, appropriate layers, snack, lunch, and extra (emergency) food, daypack, 2 L of water. An email will be sent out closer to the hike with a weather forecast and layering suggestions.

Badge work: This hike will count toward the Cadette Trail Adventure Badge.

Cost: Free

Forms: Bring the Trip Specific Permission form and two copies of your Health History form – one is folded and placed in your first aid kit, the other is handed to the trip leader.

This hike will run rain or shine, as long as there aren’t safety concerns.

Through hands-on activities, teamwork challenges, and celebration moments, you’ll explore the final three business skills and discover how to turn your ideas into action and your goals into success.

Every Girl Scout will earn:

At this exciting, grant-funded event, you’ll explore two of the five essential Cookie Boss skills through hands-on activities, games, and challenges that help you think like an entrepreneur and dream big for cookie season. You’ll learn new strategies, set goals, and spark ideas to make this your best cookie season yet!

Every Girl Scout will earn:

Camp Smart, Camp Strong (All)

Get ready to learn the skills that make camping fun, safe, and empowering! In Camp Smart, Camp Strong, Girl Scouts will explore important outdoor skills, safety tips, and practical knowledge that help them thrive in a camping environment. Girls will gain confidence, build teamwork, and discover how to be prepared for a variety of outdoor adventures.

First Aid & CPR Training or LiveScan Background Check (V)

CPR/First Aid: 11:00 – 4:00 pm

LiveScan: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

CPR/First Aid Certification and LiveScan services will be available at the Oxnard Program Center. The certification training will be provided on site, and a LiveScan vendor will be present for Girl Scout volunteers to complete their requirements for AB506.

Cost:

CPR / First Aid: $65 directly to vendor (cash, check, Venmo or Zelle)

LiveScan: FREE with GSCCC form – Contact the Program Center directly for sign-ups at OPC@girlscoutsccc.org

Wilderness Day Hike to Rattlesnake Canyon (Santa Barbara) (JCSAV)

Date: Sun Dec 07 2025, 9:30 AM PST – 2:30 PM PST

Trek Wild, a Volunteer led hiking and backpacking program in the GSCCC central/south area, is offering a day hike to Rattlesnake Canyon in Santa Barbara. This hike will include 1500′ of elevation gain (and loss) over 5.5 miles round trip.

Prerequisite: participants must have completed Trek Wild’s Wilderness Hiking Course (Look for upcoming course on Nov 16 if you are interested).

Meeting location: Rattlesnake Trailhead

Packing list: 10 essentials, appropriate layers, snack, lunch, and extra (emergency) food, daypack, 2 L of water. An email will be sent out closer to the hike with a weather forecast and layering suggestions.

Badge work: This hike will count toward the Cadette Trail Adventure Badge. For those interested in the badge, a planning meeting will be held over zoom a few days before the hike (TBD).

Carolling (All)

December 3, 4:15 to 5:30

Come join the fun carolling around a Simi Valley neighborhood!

Event Timing: December 3rd, 2025 from 4:15-5:30pm
Event Address: Casa Flores 55+ community, please park on the neighborhood streets and enter on Stow Street.  Cross streets for the neighborhood are Stow St and Los Angeles Ave.

Girls should wear their vest, closed toe shoes, and festive attire!
