Special Event: Raptor Adventure, Birds of Prey! – Ojai – B*/J/C/S/A

 Get ready for a wild adventure with some of nature’s coolest hunters! Meet Willow the Barn Owl and a fierce American Kestrel up close as you uncover the secret world of raptors—fast, fierce, and totally fascinating! You’ll learn how these amazing birds help protect the planet by keeping pest populations in check, explore real feathers and talons, and discover what makes raptors the ultimate predators. Then, put your new knowledge into action by helping build owl boxes to support local wildlife. It’s an awesome mix of science, conservation, and hands-on fun that’s sure to give you major bird power!

Surfriders Santa Barbara, Discover Our Ocean (BJ)

Date: Sat May 09 2026, 10:00 AM PDT – 12:00 PM PDT

Kelp Creations & Coastal Explorations

Dive into the wonders of the ocean with this hands-on coastal adventure led by a local Surfrider Club in Santa Barbara! Girl Scouts will discover the incredible world of kelp—one of the ocean’s most important ecosystems—through an interactive educational session that brings marine science to life.

Get creative as you design your own unique kelp-inspired artwork using cyanotype paper, a special sun-printing process that uses natural light to create beautiful blue ocean prints to take home.

Then, head out for a guided walk along the beach, where you’ll explore the shoreline, learn about local marine species, and discover how we can all help protect our coastlines. This immersive experience blends science, art, and outdoor exploration for a truly unforgettable day by the sea!

Please wear pants and closed-toe shoes that can get a little wet—adventure awaits at the water’s edge!

Program Aide Core Training (C)

Date: Sat May 09 2026, 9:30 AM PDT – 3:30 PM PDT

Learn valuable skills about being a mentor and sharing your skills, passions and experiences with younger Girl Scouts! Program Aides have the unique opportunity to serve as champions for the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Details: All girls 11 1/2 and older, are invited to attend Program Aide Training on their way to completing the steps of the Program Aide Award. PA Core Training involves learning to work with children and adapting activities for special needs and situations. You will put your new skills to the test with hands on activities that will prepare you for real life situations working with younger girls at day camps and troop, council, and service unit events.

Girls need to bring their lunch and water. Please no peanuts/peanut butter products.

Cost: $20

Girls must complete this course to be a PA at most Day Camps.

Program Aide Core Training (P.A.C.T.) is a council-designed leadership course and is an optional step to help girls earn the Program Aide pin. For more information on the Program Aide pin contact info@girlscoutsccc.org.

Harbor Quest: Discovering Imports & Exports – Port of Hueneme – J/C/S/A

Date: Sat Apr 04 2026, 10:00 AM PDT – 12:00 PM PDT

Explore the world of global trade and logistics with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Port of Hueneme! Girl Scouts will discover how products like cars, fruit, and electronics move through the port, and take part in fun, hands-on activities that teach the basics of imports, exports, and supply chains. Girls will also get a tour of both the north and south side of the port and get to see where our everyday imports and exports come in through including bananas, blueberries, fertilizer, and cars!

This interactive experience is designed to spark curiosity, build STEM skills, and introduce girls to exciting career pathways in maritime trade and logistics.

Cost: $30 per registrant

Kayak Adventure – Santa Barbara (CSAV)

Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast has partnered with Cal Coast Adventures and invites C/S/A and registered Adult Volunteers to soak up the sun and kayak!

Experience the wonders of the ocean on this private kayak tour. A knowledgeable tour guide will take you through the harbor and give you an insider’s look into Santa Barbara as well as some local history. Come explore with us on a Santa Barbara kayak tour and see all that this beach town has to offer!  Your guide will bring you within feet of Northern Fur Seals, Pacific Harbor Seals, California Sea Lions, California Brown Pelicans, and Cormorants. Next, you’ll explore Stearns Wharf, and after passing underneath the pier you’ll enter the Santa Barbara Harbor. The harbor will lend your eyes to magnificent vessels and Santa Barbara’s world renowned fishermen fleet who call the harbor home.

Waiver will be sent with email confirmation. No tagalongs.

COST: $65.00 – Girl Scouts (includes fun patch) $50.00 – Registered Girl Scout Adult Volunteer **if you wish to watch from the beach, there is no need to register**

Wilderness Hiking Course (JCSAV)

Date: Sat Mar 14 2026, 9:00 AM PDT – 4:30 PM PDT
Trek Wild is Volunteer led hiking and backpacking in the GSCCC central/south area.

Take the first step in your wilderness adventure! Designed for individuals, our Wilderness Hiking Course safely takes Girl Scouts and adults out of the campground and into the woods. Wilderness Hiking covers outdoor skills and knowledge and is recommended -though not a prerequisite* – for the Basic Backpacking and Advanced Backpacking courses. Spend your morning in the classroom and your afternoon on the trail learning about safety, proper gear and equipment, the Leave No Trace ethic, and building independence in Girl Scouts. This class lays a strong foundation for more extraordinary adventures. Have an entire troop interested? Contact us to arrange a course!

Classroom portion 9am-2pm
Hike portion 2pm-4:40pm at Wildwood Park

*New this year: 5th grade Juniors and older may attend; Wilderness hiking is recommended but not required for Basic Backpacking, which will be offered later in the spring

Covers course materials and “10 Essentials” starter kit.
This is a drop-off event.  Individual girls can attend without an adult.
