Take the first step in your wilderness adventure! Designed for individuals, our Wilderness Hiking Course safely takes Girl Scouts and adults out of the campground and into the woods. Wilderness Hiking covers outdoor skills and knowledge and is recommended -though not a prerequisite* – for the Basic Backpacking and Advanced Backpacking courses. Spend your morning in the classroom and your afternoon on the trail learning about safety, proper gear and equipment, the Leave No Trace ethic, and building independence in Girl Scouts. Get ready for a sweet adventure at Camp Arnaz! Girl Scouts will meet our horses, learn about their care and nutrition, and mix up tasty, no-bake treats—using fun, seasonal recipes that change throughout the year. It’s the perfect blend of hands-on learning and horse-loving fun!

NOTE – This program does not involve riding or grooming. Some treats may need to set in a fridge or freezer and be fed at a later time. If so, girls we be able to feed pre-made treats to the horses.

Set your sights on the treetops in Flighted Friends, a birdwatching adventure designed to spark curiosity and wonder. Girls will explore the trails of Camp Arnaz with binoculars in hand, learning to identify local birds by sight and sound. Along the way, they’ll discover the basics of bird behavior, habitats, and conservation through fun, hands-on activities. It’s the perfect blend of science, observation, and outdoor exploration—ideal for nature lovers and budding ornithologists alike!

Girl Scouts in 3rd grade and up will be instructed in archery techniques, range safety, and target shooting. Each course increases difficulty by moving farther away from the target.

Levels must be completed in order.

Challenge yourself in mastering BB gun (air rifle) target shooting. There are a variety of different positions to choose from! Girl scouts will be instructed in gun safety, range etiquette, and accuracy training.
